Etobicoke kitchen renovation cost guide

What an Etobicoke kitchen renovation actually costs in 2026, from a husband-and-wife design-build team who works on your block.

We are Chris and Julie. We design, draw, permit, and build kitchen renovations for Etobicoke homeowners. Real projects in this neighbourhood land between $80,000 and $250,000. This page tells you why, what changes the number, and how to get a straight answer for your home.

The Waterfront Family

We started Waterfront for the same reason most renovations go sideways.

Chris was a builder long before he was an owner. He spent years watching homeowners get handed off between four or five companies for one renovation. Every handoff is a chance for a number to drift, a deadline to slip, or a detail to land in the wrong inbox.

Julie came from the design side and saw the same pattern. We started Waterfront Home Improvements in 2017 to put architectural design, interior design, and construction back under one roof, run by one couple who answer their own phone.

That is what we call the Waterfront Family. It is not a slogan. It is a small team, a single point of contact, and the same two names on the contract, the drawings, and the final walkthrough.

The Waterfront Way

Three things we promise about how we communicate.

Most renovation horror stories are not about bad workmanship. They are about a contractor who stopped answering the phone in week three.

  • You hear from us every week, in writing. A short Friday note that says what got done, what is next, and any decision we need from you.
  • Numbers do not move without your signature. If a wall opens and we find something the original drawings did not show, we stop, send you a photo, send you a price, and wait.
  • Two owners, two phones, one number. When you call, you reach Chris or Julie. We pick up, or we call back the same business day.

Common questions

How much does a kitchen renovation cost in Etobicoke? +
Full-scope Etobicoke kitchen renovations from Waterfront range from $80,000 to $250,000 CAD. The number depends on the size of the room, whether you are moving walls or plumbing, the cabinetry tier, the appliance package, and the finish level. We give you a real range on the first call, not a single magic number.
Why not a lower price like the $25,000 to $40,000 quotes I see online? +
Those numbers are for cosmetic refreshes, paint and counters and new hardware, often with stock cabinetry installed by a single crew. We do not do cosmetic refreshes. We do full design-build kitchens with custom cabinetry, layout changes, electrical and plumbing work, and the permits to back it up.
Are you insured? +
Yes. Waterfront Home Improvements Inc. is incorporated in Ontario, fully insured, and carries general liability and WSIB coverage on every project.
Do you use a real designer or just a contractor with a clipboard? +
We have an in-house Architectural Designer who handles drawings, permits, and structural work. Julie leads interior design and finishes. Drawings stay in-house, never subcontracted to a third party we cannot answer for.
How long will the kitchen be unusable? +
On a typical Etobicoke full kitchen renovation, you are without the room for 10 to 16 weeks from demolition to final install. We set up a temporary cooking area before we start, walk you through which appliances move, and the schedule is laid out week by week before the first hammer swings.
Do you handle permits? +
Yes. We pull every permit the City of Toronto requires for the scope, in our name, with our designer's stamp. You do not chase paperwork.
What happens if you find something behind the wall that was not in the plan? +
We stop, take photos, write a short change order with a price and a timeline impact, and email it to you for sign-off before any work continues. Nothing gets built and invoiced retroactively.
Do you work outside Etobicoke? +
We work in Etobicoke and Toronto's west end: Mimico, Sunnylea, The Kingsway, Alderwood, Bloor West Village, Roncesvalles, The Junction, High Park, Swansea, and parts of Mississauga.
Can I see real projects, not staged photos? +
Yes. On the first call, we share three to five completed kitchens within a few blocks of your house. If you want to see one in person, we can usually arrange a visit with a past client.
What is the next step? +
Fill the form on this page. You will get the Etobicoke Kitchen Renovation Cost Guide by email immediately. One of us calls you within 48 hours to confirm fit and book the consultation. No pressure, no follow-up sequence pretending to be a human.
