Hello, neighbour

Design-build renovations in Alderwood and south Etobicoke

We are Chris and Julie, a husband and wife who design the home and build the home. Architectural design, interior design, and construction under one roof, and our completed projects are on Alderwood's own streets.

Norfolk-Thames Street Party

Proud sponsor of the Norfolk-Thames Street Party

Waterfront sponsors this Alderwood tradition every year, and if you scanned our code on a sponsor sign at the party, welcome, and thank you for the visit. We could not be there in person this time, so consider this page our booth. Alderwood is where most of our work lives, and there is a good chance we have already renovated a home on a street you walk every day.

If your kitchen does not work, your layout never did, or there is an addition you keep putting off, tell us what you are thinking about. The first conversation is a 45-minute discovery call with Chris or Julie. No pressure, no obligation.

What we take on

From one room to the whole house

Kitchens and bathrooms

The rooms you live in most, rebuilt around how your family actually uses them.

Additions and second storeys

More room to grow, designed to look like it was always part of the house.

Whole-home and custom builds

A top-to-bottom rethink, managed start to finish by one team.

Interior design

Layout, light, and materials chosen with you, not handed to you.

How we communicate

Three things we promise about how we communicate

Most renovation horror stories are not about bad workmanship. They are about a contractor who stopped answering the phone in week three.

  • A written site log, with photos, every day a crew is on site. Most builders go silent for weeks at a time. We don't.
  • Numbers do not move without your signature. If a wall opens and we find something the drawings did not show, we stop, send you a photo, send you a price, and wait.
  • Two owners, two phones. When you call, you reach Chris or Julie. We pick up, or we call back the same business day.

Questions neighbours ask us

Do you work in Alderwood? +
Yes. Alderwood and south Etobicoke are the centre of our work, and our completed projects are on Alderwood's own streets. We also work across Etobicoke and Toronto's west end: Mimico, Sunnylea, The Kingsway, Bloor West Village, Roncesvalles, The Junction, High Park, Swansea, and parts of Mississauga.
What kinds of projects do you take on? +
Kitchens, bathrooms, home additions, second storey additions, basement apartments, whole-home renovations, custom builds, and interior design. Design and construction stay under one roof for all of them.
Are you insured? +
Yes. Waterfront Home Improvements Inc. is incorporated in Ontario, fully insured, and carries general liability and WSIB coverage on every project. We can show the certificates at the first consultation.
Who does the design work? +
We have an in-house Architectural Designer who handles drawings, permits, and structural work. Julie leads interior design and finishes. Drawings stay in-house, never subcontracted to a third party we cannot answer for.
Do you handle permits? +
Yes. We pull every permit the City of Toronto requires for the scope, in our name, with our designer's stamp. You do not chase paperwork.
What happens after I book the discovery call? +
You talk to Chris or Julie for 45 minutes about your home, your goals, your timeline, and whether we are the right fit. If we are, the next step is a consultation at your kitchen table. If we are not, we will say so on the call and point you in a better direction.
What happens if you find something unexpected mid-build? +
We stop, take photos, write a short change order with a price and a timeline impact, and email it to you for sign-off before any work continues. Nothing gets built and invoiced retroactively.
Can I see real projects nearby? +
Yes. On the first call, we share completed projects within a few blocks of your house. If you want to see one in person, we can usually arrange a visit with a past client.
